Privacy Policy

This policy explains what imvido collects and why. We aim to collect as little as possible — no account is required to use the core downloader.

What we collect

• Links you submit — processed to extract available formats; used transiently to fulfil your request.
• An optional device fingerprint, when available, & session cookies — to establish a guest session and apply fair-use rate limits without an account.
• Third-party cookie text you choose to paste — sent to our servers only to access protected media you are authorized to view, encrypted for temporary use, and deleted after use or when the short-lived secret expires.
• Account data — if you sign in, your email and authentication provider identifier.
• Basic usage/diagnostic data — to keep the Service running and prevent abuse.

Files you download

Server-processed files are stored temporarily in object storage and auto-expire after your plan's retention period. Downloads performed by our browser extension or desktop app are saved directly to your device and never pass through our servers.

Browser extension permissions

The imvido browser extension requests a small set of permissions, each used only for the purpose below. It contains no analytics or tracking, and does not sell or share your data.

• Access to all sites (<all_urls>) — so it can detect downloadable media on whatever page you are viewing. Page content is inspected locally in your browser; it is not transmitted to us.
• Cookies — used only when you explicitly click “Copy cookies for this site”. The extension reads that site's cookies and places them on your clipboard so you can paste them into imvido to access media you are authorized to view. These cookies are never sent anywhere by the extension. Treat copied cookies as credentials.
• Downloads — to save media files directly to your device.
• Active tab & storage — to read the current tab's address and remember your local preferences on your device.

The only data the extension sends off your device is the page URL, and only when you explicitly choose “Open in imvido” for server-side discovery.

How we use it

To provide and secure the Service, enforce rate limits, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.

Third parties

• Object storage for temporary file hosting.
• Authentication providers (e.g. Google, GitHub) if you choose to sign in.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for sessions and authentication. We do not use advertising trackers.

Your choices

You can use the Service as a guest, clear your cookies at any time, or contact us to request deletion of account data.
